Miles of Experience: Spotlight on Veteran Driver, Thomas

At Siracusa Moving & Storage, we believe our drivers are the heart of our business; which is why we are excited to spotlight Thomas, a true veteran driver with a remarkable career and a dedication to excellence. Starting his career in 1982, Thomas brings a wide range of experience to the job with over 40 years in the industry. We are proud to have had him and his talents as part of the Siracusa family for the past 5 years.

The People Keep You Going
asked what he likes about his job, Thomas responds with, “The good people.” “It’s more like a family than just a business. Siracusa has a warm environment with great camaraderie. Dan Siracusa is an incredible leader who’s always willing to help anyone—he helped me out before we had even met! I even spent Thanksgiving with him—it’s that kind of place. The drivers here are treated like family, rather than just a number. You are valued here, and most have an old-school mentality. If someone needs a helping hand, you help them out. It’s about giving the shirt off your back and helping out when needed.”

Outside of the Job
Thomas’s dedication to his work often keeps him busy, but when he gets a break, he enjoys spending time on the river in his boat and cherishing moments with his family.

Family Atmosphere
When asked what his favorite part of working for Siracusa is, Thomas states, “Everything!” “Here, you’re not just a number or a driver; you’re a part of a family. I’ve never worked somewhere where operations and dispatchers offer to help as much as they do here. You are valued here, and everyone fits in with each other. They’re helpful, kind, loving, understanding, and will keep you rolling. Siracusa is a top-notch agent and one of the best in the business. It’s not just a job; it’s a second home.”

Memorable Moves
Although through the years Thomas has moved some impressive people, such as former helicopter pilots for the President of the United States and CEO’s; when asked what his favorite relocation story is, Thomas states that it was when he was tasked with moving families employed by Henley Group, a high-end company relocating from San Diego to Hampton. “It was a job where only a handful of us were qualified to handle it,” Thomas recalls. “We worked on it for three years. These were very high-class, high-value moves where professionalism made all the difference. The family left in a limo, and we handled everything, from start to finish. Only one shipment would go in the trailer at a time. It was a perfect example of the difference between normal movers and true professionals.”

Before Your Driver Arrives
Before he arrives, Thomas wants his customers to know that he is here to relieve the stress of your move. “Regardless of the customer’s status, all customers will be treated the same and can expect the same quality of service. I only hire top-notch crews that are professional, courteous, hardworking, and trustworthy. Being in the industry as long as I have, if they don’t meet my standards of work and professionalism, they won’t be in my contacts. No matter how big or small the job is or who you are, all my customers can be expected to be treated the same with the utmost professionalism. ”
