Community Service
We’ve always felt that an important part of our responsibility as an employer is to be involved in the community. As our company has grown, we have tried to give something back to the communities that our employees call home. We feel so strongly about our commitment to community service, that we have dedicated a full time position to fielding the hundreds of requests we receive for in-kind services and monetary donations.
Why? Well according to our President, Dan Siracusa, “Why not? I like to get involved with programs that impact kids, because I think we should get them while they’re young. We get calls all the time and are involved in various activities. There’s something going on every day. I’ve always done the volunteer work. Looking at the needs of society, I always feel like I can do more.”
Local Programs
Services are provided as well to local agencies such as Foodshare Commission of Greater Hartford, Boy Scouts of America, the Children’s Home of Cromwell, Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain, World-Wide Lighthouse Missions, Share Our Strength, and We Are The Children.

Disaster Services
Siracusa has initiated transportation of food and other necessities to victims in multiple disaster relief programs and to third world countries.
- 911 Tragedy – Siracusa warehouse was kept open 24 hours a day to receive donations. Over 1.2 million pounds of supplies for rescue workers were collected, filling 42 truckloads.
- Hurricane Andrew – delivered 50 trucks to Florida of supplies and donations.
- Iowa flood victims – delivered 350,000 gallons of fresh water.
- Waco, Texas – assistance provided through the Adopt-A-School program.
Love 146 – Momentum of Love
Recently, Siracusa became a Platinum sponsor of “Love 146 – Momentum of Love”, a campaign to end child sex slavery and exploitation. It is estimated that trafficking generates around $32 billion dollars annually, making it the second most lucrative crime in the world. Love 146 has initiated two core program areas to combat the issue of child sex slavery and exploitation, Prevention and Aftercare. Siracusa Moving is a proud sponsor and hopes its continual support will aid in these programs.
Move for Hunger Campaign
Siracusa is a proud sponsor of Move for Hunger. Siracusa collects donations of non-perishable food items from relocation clients that would have otherwise been thrown away. Transferees are provided special bags and/or boxes for the non-persible times which are then picked up by the driver and transported to local food banks. Learn more about Move for Hunger.
Smile Train
Siracusa has supported over 350 cleft lip and palate surgeries for children all over the world. The money donated goes to surgeries, education, clean surgical supplies and rooms, public awareness, and follow up care for the more than 165,000 children born each year with cleft lip and palate mal-deformities.
Special Olympics World Games
In 1995, Siracusa was the Special Olympics World Games’ logistics center. Dan Siracusa served as a commissioner. Commenting on the appointment, Dan stated, “I am committed to devoting the majority of my time and efforts to create, manage and document a logistics and transportation framework that will serve as a future model for this and other large events.”
